Misra Walker

the house of spoof collective

Misra is a junior at Cooper Union and manages a gallery and art collective she founded 4 years ago with 3 friends – Alberto Inamagua, Richard Palacios, Ryan Smith – in Hunts Point, The Bronx called The House of Spoof.  The House of Spoof hosts gallery shows for emerging artists and provides free art classes for the community in honor of their friend Glenn “Spoof” Wright who passed away in 2009. Misra is on a mission to create accessible safe spaces where people can feel free to express complex feelings and engage in difficult conversations. Her work as an artist blurs the line between activism and art by interrogating the history and politics that make up the backbone of her community.
